First Winston Cup Start- Entered the Talladega 500, finishing ninth, August 5, 1979.

First Winston Cup Pole- March 2, 1990; drove for SABCO Racing, took pole at the Goodwrench 500 at the North Carolina Speedway (Rockingham, NC), and also won the event.

First Winston Cup Win- February 23,1986; drove for the Wood Brothers, won the Miller High Life 400 at the Richmond International Speedway (Richmond, Va.)
