The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America is motorcycle ride that takes riders across country in one week. This cross-country motorcycle journey, involving both NASCAR® celebrities and fans has grown every year since its inaugural run in 1995. Since that time, the Kyle Petty Charity Ride has logged over 24,000 miles, encompassed over 3,000 riders and has generated over THREE AND HALF MILLION dollars for children's hospitals across the country.

This years ride will mark ten years from the first ride, Kyle and a few friends riding cross country from one race to the next. Kyle jokes that they started to raise money for kids because that way their wife's would let them do it. Well Kyle has no problem getting his family to let him do the ride. For that matter some of Kyle's family ride with him. Last year Patti (Kyle's wife), Montgomery Lee (Kyle's daughter), Austin (Kyle's youngest son), all rode with him. Even NASCAR's King Richard, rode a couple of the days.

This years (2004) ride has a different start time and purpose in a way. The ride will be run in May, and will finish at the site of the Victory Junction Gang Camp, opening it to the campers. May works well for this for two reasons, the first is that there is a weekend that Nextel Cup doesn't race. And also the fact that the mouth of May has meaning to the camp and to the Petty's. The 12th of May is the day that Adam was killed.

there is a little about the charity ride.
